Privacy Policy

We take privacy very seriously at Blue Emerald. Not just because we are bound by the Privacy Act 1998 (Commonwealth), but also as it is an important issue for all our clients.

Client Data and Information

As with any business focusing on accounts data, we deal with confidential and sensitive information from our clients.

We only use this information to provide our services to you, the client, which are set out in our Terms of Engagement and also  our Terms & Conditions. We never disclose this information to a third party unless expressly instructed in writing by the client.

Most of our services are provided virtually, however some clients may need to send us actual documents and information. Depending on the type of document, they are either returned to the client after being completed, shredded once used or they are kept securely for a minimum of 5 years as per ATO requirements and then shredded after this time.

At any time, a client is able to request a copy of the documents provided, or to have the documents returned to them. These documents remain the client’s property at all times.

If a client chooses to no longer engage Blue Emerald’s services, then all held documents will either be returned to the client or shredded, as per the client’s instructions.

All virtual information, such as emails, faxes, Xero data, MYOB datafiles & backups, spreadsheets and other digital documents are held securely on external servers or with our secure cloud solution partners. Although there is some transfer of information to our computers locally to enable us to provide our services, the data resides externally for increased security. All our solution partners have their own strict privacy policies.

Sometimes our clients may give us other personal or sensitive information such as logins and passwords to be able to complete our services. This type of information is always deleted or shredded after it has been used. It is never kept unless requested by the client. We also have a statutory declaration we are more than happy to sign which is available for clients who wish us to provide this information in a very legal & witnessed format.

Privacy on our Website

In addition to specific client data, there may be certain information any user of our website may give us, for example email addresses and other contact details.

We never sell, rent or disclose your personal information to anyone outside Blue Emerald. The only exception to this is under extenuating circumstances required by federal law under the Privacy Act.

We may use your email address to occasionally send you information about new services, special offers, newsletters information we believe you might find useful or interesting or to let you know that we have new blog postings.

We will also use internally any feedback you provide us to improve our website and our services to our clients.

If at any time you would rather not receive these mailings &/or information, then please contact us and we will remove your personal details from our database.

As part of some specific packages for our clients, we will send out reminders and alerts of key dates and similar items.

We may occasionally provide links to other websites we feel may benefit our clients and blog readers. These external websites are not under our control or privacy policy. We suggest you view their own privacy policies if you want more information.
