Well, the website redesign is coming along at a somewhat steady speed. It’s been taking longer than we had anticipated, but we are hoping for the website to go live in the very near future. I’ve certainly been met with numerous challenges along the way but they have all been overcome and I have managed to make the website do my bidding. (Cue the evil laugh).
I’ve had to become more proficient at Photoshop and have had to learn PHP as I’ve previously always used HTML. But I am one of those people who love learning new things. I believe it hasn’t been a good day unless you have learnt something, no matter how small.
And mistakes! Yes I have made many mistakes. Such as wrestling with trying get a particular feature to happen on the website. Only to find hours later that there was a really easy & quick way to have done it! You have to laugh at yourself when that happens.
Making mistakes has been the topic of conversation amongst alot of my friends lately. Some of them berate themselves over tiny things. However, mistakes are learning experiences. The help us get better at things whether they are in business or in our personal life. I read an interesting article about why letting yourself make mistakes means making fewer of them.
We can use mistakes to help us know what not to do next time and eventually succeed. Exactly like a baby learning to walk. They don’t give up, they just keep falling over until eventually they work out how to it. And then they are off!
Successful businesses didn’t get where they are by giving up when they meet a challenge. They think around that challenge, work out how they can do it better next time or even think outside the square and come up with a better solution.
What do you do when you make mistakes?
“Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.” ~Al Franken
